"I'm tighter than two coats of paint.” Jeff James
If you’re driving down the highway, windows open, feeling the warm, fresh breeze blowing through your flow, or tickling your receding hairline, possibly even wind-burning a bald head in my case…
and don’t mind watching a briefcase of cash fly out the window, then I’ll see you next week.
This FREE tip is not for you.
If you aspire to rebuild or take care of your gut and don't know where to start, first, subscribe and read some FREE back issues of Gut Pilot to follow my popcorn trail from a gut $h@# show to gut health.
Next, and this is very important, resist every temptation to pay someone for information that can be found for free.
Pull up a chair for a second.
If you followed my first piece of advice and perused some old newsletter posts, you would have a colorful “Google Maps” example of how to travel from a flaming dumpster fire of a colon to a pretty healthy replacement, albeit one-third shorter in length.
Granted, it helps to know how to best fuel your body with adequate quantities of macronutrients to do this, but it doesn’t require a ton of money to figure it out.
Crush fermented foods, eat plenty of fiber, score on lean protein, move your body, get good sleep and manage stress.
If that list looks overwhelming, try this to handle half the list.
How do I know if what I'm eating is enough to help me achieve my goals?
Sure, you could hire someone to create a menu, maybe package up a box and ship it to you, and even whisper warm thoughts in your ear while you take an ice bath.
But if your wallet is in a vise grip, here is an easy way to use AI to help…for free.
I’ve even included some pictures.
If you are familiar with artificial intelligence, that's great. Use what you’re used to and get creative with prompt ideas, and you’re well on your way.
If you’re not, here’s how I did it.
I use Microsoft Edge quite a bit for browsing. Microsoft has Copilot, which is a Chat GPT-based virtual assistant that ushers you into the AI world.
Or, go to your app store and download the app:

Now, for the OG's reading this, you have an Encyclopedia Britannica at your fingertips. And it didn't take a door-to-door salesman in a leisure suit to purchase.

Here comes the magic. Since we know what we should be eating, and have a basic idea of how much our targets should be, how do I know how much is in my bowl, blender, or glass in front of me?
Ask Copilot!

(Hold that thought on the seaweed image until next week)
Type in the prompt box exactly what you're eating and let AI send back the answers.
Here's another couple of examples:

With a couple of questions, I have a pretty good idea of what I'm about to shovel into my mouth. It's also a great way to track meals and assist in planning.
Another helpful part of this AI stuff is they usually give you the references in footnotes. This is like having a research assistant at your fingertips.
I strongly recommend clicking through some of the citations to see where the information is coming from. This will also uncover some rare occasions where the robots don’t get it exactly correct.
I find myself having conversations with Copilot which is mildly scary, but if I didn’t get the answer to my question, I ask Copilot again, complete with snark:
“Well that was helpful, but would it kill you to break down the totals in grams of fiber like I asked you?”
Give it a try.
And it's free!
Let me know how it goes.
Next week, seaweed is on the menu. Not really, but there is some cool research on fermentation and seaweed that can help explain why fermented foods are so good for you.
Thanks for reading,
